Annual Grimaldi Service

Popped round the corner this Sunday to see the clowns leaving the 65th annual Grimaldi Service at Holy Trinity church in Dalston.
I must admit I'm not a fan of clowns, but was strangely drawn, I'm glad I didn't take N, aged nearly 4!

I've been walking past this shop on Dalston Lane since summer & wondering what these people were up to.
Recently, passing on a 38 bus, I saw them on the roof, erecting a chicken coop.

Then on the way to the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden recently, I peeked in and saw huge bubbling tanks of water, tiny plants growing in neat rows, towers of strange plant pot 'trees'...

Now they put a sign up, I've found their web site and I'm intrigued.

sunflowers

Someone planted loads of sunflowers along an otherwise barren bit of land by the flats on Englefield road, N1.
They span a whole block and look beautiful.
A welcome sight on my walk to the studio of a morning!

Legacy in the Dust: The Four Aces Story

We went to see this last night, a documentary by Winstan Whitter.
The old footage is fantastic, the ending sad & made me angry.
I didn't know that so many important musicians had played in Dalston Lane, the building was of historic importance, but hey, its gone & now a block of flats is in its place!

Brilliant combo of brown & orange on the fantastically useful East London Line trains.
We think they must have been inspired by SHELF colours?
