Tokyo: Care Workers

I'm in Tokyo, visiting costume houses, its full on, no time to do my own thing, managed to get a photo of these people:

'Better rights for care workers'

Seems they have similar struggles to ours - a vital job, underpaid.

They all wore matching macs and were very polite, thanking the traffic,
which had waited as they crossed...

Pravoslav Rada

We recently sold out of Pravoslav Radas book within a week, this is a detail of the inside of the cover.
I wonder what colour these were?
It reminds me of Lubna's beautiful work.

I turned my back

and they were gone

sunflowers

Someone planted loads of sunflowers along an otherwise barren bit of land by the flats on Englefield road, N1.
They span a whole block and look beautiful.
A welcome sight on my walk to the studio of a morning!

planting

Yesterday, our small people helped plant some herbs around a cherry tree in the Haggerston Park orchard, by the Hackney City Farm - what muddy fun!

important people

Making words today, N decided to write names, all these people are VERY important to her.
Family: J, K, N and Tom (works at nursery!)
Other important people: Elaine (Chalmers) of A Little of What you Fancy  (gave her a biscuit)
Olit Tolit and Shoody, ever present, imaginary, v.v. special.

Freize - Gavin Turks Bikes

Gavin Turk has created 15 bicycles in homage to AndrĂ© Cadere’s  Barres de Bois Rond (poles of cylindrical, multi-coloured wooden blocks)
They are available to ride around the inner circle of Regent’s Park, apon your return you will receive a signed certificate from Turk that declares you as a work of art!

Legacy in the Dust: The Four Aces Story

We went to see this last night, a documentary by Winstan Whitter.
The old footage is fantastic, the ending sad & made me angry.
I didn't know that so many important musicians had played in Dalston Lane, the building was of historic importance, but hey, its gone & now a block of flats is in its place!
See here for a taster, or go to the Hackney Museum to see an exhibit . .

Try to go, Its on at BHVU Gallery
